Dragomar is a mountain,
an island and more ...

Explanations about the book series, the place, the creatures and the abilities

a mountain

ragomar is a mountain that has it in itself and on itself. At its top shines a crystal, apparently only when he himself wants it. No one can reach the whale-sized crystal, neither from the outside nor from the inside. The glow of the crystal has something mystical about it, even though it does not seem to emanate directly from the crystal. A crystal is not a light bulb, after all. And where should the electricity come from?

The mountain carries very little ice on it. The mountain walls are simply too steep and too wind-swept for snow. It stands there on the island as a monolith, as if someone had stretched its giant arm upwards from the earth’s interior under a thin, black silk cloth, and the cloth falls steeply down in many vertical folds.

The mountain is full of corridors, caves and halls. There are so many that there is no one who knows them all. Since the mountain has already experienced several cultures, no one knows what awaits him or her in the next yet unknown cave. Even strange creatures seem to be in the realm of possible surprises. There is a core of passages and caves that are known and used and inhabited. They have been the main known sites of happiness and sorrow, fraternization and betrayal, wars and weddings in the past millennia. Some places are still a bit shabby or spartan looking. In other places, the splendor of bygone eras is abundantly evident.

The mountain is not only architecturally or culturally interesting. Even technology and mysticism are not kept behind the mountain. However, what made the mountain at all times were its inhabitants, who could not have been more different. They were all there. Greedy morons, great wise wizards, rulers and subjects, geniuses and drunkards, judges and criminals, nurses and murderers, artists and scientists.

The fact that here the borders of the origin of the creatures per se are exceeded and it can be explained with Darwin’s theory of evolution already at all nothing, which happens here, is a characteristic of Dragomar. Although: Darwin’s theory of evolution has certainly some correspondences in here somewhat wider and differently interpreted regularities. Who knows already where man would develop in 4 billion years and which surprise it would be to be confronted with the result already today, in individual cases.

an island

Clearly, the mountain has to be somewhere. What could be more suitable to highlight the special than an island? Isolated, its own development, unknown, not easily accessible. Little hinterland, which gives the mountain even more dominance. It’s not quite that simple after all. Dragomar was more. It was bigger. There were times when what is now special was normal everyday life and normal surroundings.

The island was bigger. It is still big. There are other mountains on it. They are smaller than the name-giver, but they form a part of the former crater rim of a sunken crater, which has historical significance. Long passages and chapters will be devoted to the crater in the book series, so I won’t spill the beans here. – On Dragomar there is a plateau with its own climate and an adjacent volcano. On the plateau even a river rises, which only seems not to flow into the sea.unknown cave awaits. Even strange creatures seem to be in the realm of possible surprises. a region

ow it becomes geopolitically difficult. The fact that Dragomar had produced more than one advanced civilization always caused a growing influence on the region of Antarctica where Dragomar is located. In addition, there were cultural and personal exchanges and trade with other cultures. The center of power was the island, but the empire was at times much larger. Some wanted to be part of Dragomar, to participate in its success, to enjoy its health system, its protection, to have the right to vote, not to have to pay customs duties. Others who wanted to remain independent could do so if Dragomar allowed it. This was not always the case and also depended on who or what system was ruling Dragomar at the time.

Magic

hat is not magic. If the fusion reactor in France had a positive energy balance, that would be magic even for the scientists involved. – It is just a research reactor. That is the essence of Dragomar’s magic. Magic is only the addition of things that were thought to be impossible to the previously known empirical values. It doesn’t matter on Dragomar whether the boundaries are pushed by learned skills or by inherited talent, a meta-level or whatever. The special thing about magic is often that it is also magical. To illustrate these magical moments, a strange island in the eternal ice, in the barrenness of nature, surrounded by life-threatening climate and weather phenomena is well suited.

Dragons

re they? Have mercy! Dragons are just people. The mythological content of dragons is completely overrated. It is also unfair to equate dragons with the mother-in-law, or to blame the rejection in the secretary’s office of a person one wanted to meet on an anteroom dragon. That houses and apartments are laid out in terms of how dragons fly and see is certainly a nice gesture, especially since too many have boasted of being dragon hunters.

Small hint: most dragon hunters lied or the dragon had already been killed by another dragon. It also depends on the type of dragon. Some have such a sensitive and trained ear that they will take flight if someone misses the mark or gets caught in it.

Strictly speaking, Dragomar is all feelings.

Dragomar, because of its long history and blurred boundaries of the known, attracts the hope of the more possible. Dragomar is a catalyst. It has a little to do with the hopes of Europeans for the New World and the idea that anything was possible if you did it right.

Creatures

owever, what made Dragomar at all times were its inhabitants, who could not have been more different. "What now?"

n the end Dragomar is our life; extended by some dimensions, which only seem strange to us, but are actually also part of our cultures. [Note to analysts: This is not exoticism] That myths and legends in Dragomar are real or become real or come true – or not – does not change the fact that Dragomar is nothing else than a multilayered image of ourselves. In many of us are still the experiences of our ancestors. Be it migration or the 30 years war. It would be much more far-fetched to want to explain itself as a laboratory product in free self-determination. The truth? The truth lies somewhere in between. Between being able and wanting, between being an individual and being part of the whole.
